The Holy Spirit Longs to Help You
Yes, He does!
It’s His name, according to Jesus:
John 14:26-27 (ESV)
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit….”
That’s His name, Helper, and He especially wants to help you grow spiritually so that you’re more like your Lord Jesus.
God Transforms Us through His Spirit
The Holy Spirit helps to transform us, God’s image bearers, into disciples who are more and more like Christ as we follow Him.
Ezekiel 36:26 (NET)
26 I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh.
As I write this post late at night, I sense the Lord leading me to keep this topic simple, and not over analyze the gift of the Helper.
So, dear friend, simply let it sink in that we’re set free, we’ve been given new life in Christ, and the God of Israel has given us His own Spirit to live in us to help us serve Him.
Romans 7:6 (ESV)
6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
The Holy Spirit is 100% dedicated to our spiritual growth, our transformation. He knows what Jesus’ mission cost the Son of God. He was there at Jesus’ baptism and He was there at His crucifixion (and resurrection). As the third person of the Trinity, He knows all about God’s redemption plan and He also knows all about our weaknesses. Therefore, we need not feel shy to ask Him for help, we can be bold.
Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Yes, Father God reigns in heaven from His throne. Yes, the victorious Son of God is seated at the right hand of the Father. And yes, dear friends, God the Holy Spirit lives in you so you always have access to God’s throne of grace.
The Holy Spirit is your Helper, that’s His name, and it’s what He loves to do. No matter what you’re dealing with (unforgiveness, doubt, fear, etc.), you can boldly ask for help.
Your loving and compassionate Helper is waiting for you, longing to give you what you need so you can grow to be more like Christ.
