Writing a Gratitude Journal
The women in the Bible study group I currently attend decided to keep a Gratitude Journal this month for the days leading up to USA Thanksgiving. What a good discipline for me. I decided to share parts of my journal here in my new publication.
My Entries this Past Week
[In daily order]
I’m grateful for:
heat and shelter
my husband
food (God provides our daily bread)
Jesus saving me out of the occult (see my October 2022 series)
God’s answers to “little” prayers
bruised muscles, only, when I fell a few days ago; I didn’t break any bones
rain and snow storms; precipitation is always welcome in our Southwest desert
chats with loved ones who are going through hard times
My last entry may have surprised you. It sort of surprised me as well. Why am I grateful for conversations with friends or family about hard, difficult times? I’m grateful for these chats because we become vulnerable with each other, trusting each other with some of our most painful experiences. We pray for each other, or I can pray for those who are “not yet” believers in Christ.
God answers prayers, and He answered a few this past week. I continue to lift up the remaining prayers, knowing He cares for us very much.
The Holy Spirit reminded me of what the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth:
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (BSB)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
I’m grateful that God is:
my merciful Father who comforts me, who comforts us
the giver of comfort in all hard times
the one who helps me comfort others with the comfort He has give to me
Maranatha, come Lord Jesus.
Soli Deo Gloria!

I’m grateful for so much! My brother, for giving us a place to stay until we are ready to start our journey (soon), our God that allowed everything to line up so we CAN start this new adventure, and everyone who has helped in one way or another to get us to the point we are. I’m grateful my husband could finally retire, and my kids who are being so understanding about us wanting to go “live our dream.”
