Sharing a Gratitude Journal
My gratitude journal is for me. When I wake up each morning, my thoughts almost immediately go to my To Dos for the day. When I pause and ask myself, What are you grateful for?, I focus my thoughts on God and His good gifts to me. When my first thoughts are on Him, my perspective on the day changes to one of surrendering everything, especially my To Do List, to Him. My gratitude journal is my spiritual tool to seek God, first, and to praise Him first thing every day.
In our weekly women’s Bible study this month, we’re sharing a few gratitude entries with each other. I didn’t plan on sharing my journal on the internet, here in this space. But, it seemed the Lord was prompting me: Why not share here?
When I share my entries with others, and they share theirs with me, we all are blessed. At the bottom of this post is a button for leaving a comment. If you feel led, I hope you’ll share what you’re grateful for during this season of giving thanks.
My Entries this Past Week
[In daily order]
I’m grateful for:
the fall colors this season (they’ve lasted for weeks!)
online church, for those times I’m not able to attend in person
my gratitude journal
online Bible study (YouVersion, the Bible app) with my out-of-state friend
God’s kingdom, my true home
fuel to keep us warm through this winter (pre-paid seasonal discount)
I’m grateful for the pre-paid seasonal discount available to us from our propane delivery company (we live in a rural area). Every August, customers receive flyers announcing the program. Of course, it’s a smart marketing program for the company, but there’s something else.
The owners are true Christ Followers. From their viewpoint, they see this discount program as a way to help their customers stay warm through our cold winters by paying a one-time cost at a lower market rate. I’m not only grateful that we are staying quite warm this winter, I’m grateful for my fellow sisters and brothers in Christ at our propane provider. In their main office they always have free Bibles available to the public. What a blessing!
The Holy Spirit reminded me of what the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Thessaloniki:
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (BSB)
18 Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I’m grateful that God is:
Yahweh Jira, my provider (God provided Abraham with a ram, Genesis 22:14)
El Shaddai, God almighty (Genesis 49:24; Psalm 132:2, and 5)
Maranatha, come Lord Jesus!
Soli Deo Gloria!

I’m grateful to God for allowing things to come together so we could finally realize our dream of living life on the road. We are almost a week into our new adventure and He has protected us, provided for us, and have had no major mishaps. We couldn’t be more grateful and happy!
