The Question GOD asks?

"There, he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?" 1 Kings 19:9 NIV

The word of the LORD is still going forth. It reaches out to all of us, calling to us as people with tender hearts of flesh to listen.

"What are we doing here?"

We are ALL sinners. Humanity is in a dark state of rebellion against their Creator. Most have departed from seeking GOD, no longer asking the Question that the LORD has placed in every heart, "What are we doing here?" as GOD's image bearers, humanity has rejected their Creator for not answering back, no longer the need to know the answer, people have become distracted, His Question pushed back into the deep recesses of their hearts, His Question always trying to surface but to no avail. The choice to live in rebellion, to reject GOD's call to answer His Question, has become a standard, a normalization of a sinful lifestyle.

"But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him." Daniel 9:9 NLT

This is beautiful, brother James!

You pointing out the question God asked in 1 Kings 19:9 immediately led me to remember that one, heart broken, question God asked in the first Eden:

Genesis 3:9

9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

May we gently ask not-yet believers these two questions and pray for their hearts to be open to the Lord.

"Where are you?"

"What are you doing here?"

Jesus said, "Follow me".
