On finding out that Daniel was not a "Super Believer" and how that might comfort you in your journey | Staying Strong in a Hostile World 2024 | Book of Daniel
Good word, so true in these times. We must all learn to be Mary instead of Martha during these times of trial. There is so much going on and so many attacks coming at us, we must learn to just sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to Him.
"The apostles said to the Lord, "Show us how to increase our faith." The Lord answered, "If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you!" Luke 17:5-6 NLT
A prayer asking the LORD to "Show us how to increase our faith."
Father, help us to do what's right in Your sight, make us clean, wash away our sins, forgive us of anything that would come between us, and help us to forgive others the same.
LORD, help us to trust in You more, increase our faith in You to care for us even in the midst of any storm, cause us to see You at work in our lives and the lives of others, fill us with compassion for others, and help us to pray for Your people, that they would come to know You more and that those who have yet to meet You would find their way into Your Loving arms.
Thank You, LORD, for hearing our simple prayer this day, in JESUS ' Holy Name, we pray. Amen
"Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:18 NLT
Fantastic timing. I confess I haven't been keeping up with (most people's!) posts here lately because things have been overwhelming, but I just got done reviewing today's sermon on Daniel 5 and setting up the game plan for next week's on Daniel 6...so we're getting close to moving from flannel board Daniel to sci fi Daniel. (I love that phrase, too. I'm totally stealing it...although I'm not sure anyone will know what a flannel board is, even though our congregation is older.)
Anyway, I'll be coming back here as I prep the chs 8 & 9 sermons!
Thank you, Ericka, and I appreciate your wise comment. Grateful we have a God we can lean into, who shared our humanity with us. He knows us and loves us!

Joining you at Jesus’ feet. The louder the world’s voice gets, the more we need Jesus.
Amen sister.
GOD bless you, Jenise, and yours.

Beautiful prayer, brother James, thank you! Love the Eph. 6:18 reference - perfect!
May the LORD God bless you and yours with loving and beautiful surprises!

Also, if you want a really excellent deep dive into Daniel for yourself (alas it's not cheap; I got it at a reduced rate because I'm friends with the scholar), I *highly* recommend this commentary: https://wendywidder.com/product/daniel-zondervan-exegetical-commentary-on-the-old-testament/
Happy Sunday, Jenn.
Praying for you!
Thank you for letting me know about Wendy's commentary. That's a work of a lifetime, good on her!
Thank you! Happy Sunday to you, too!
Believe it or not, Wendy’s written TWO commentaries on Daniel, for two different series. I haven’t read the other one.
Thank you, Ericka, and I appreciate your wise comment. Grateful we have a God we can lean into, who shared our humanity with us. He knows us and loves us!
